March 2018

Hardy Geraniums were the subject for the March meeting of the Black Pear Gardening Club.

Julie Ritchie from Hoo House Nursery, a regular supporter of our Gardener’s Market, passed on her knowledge and experience of growing this very worth while garden plant. She provided us with a list of 82 varieties, describing each one’s characteristics and growing requirements. These were, good for shade, enjoys sunshine, aromatic foliage, good well tempered to thuggish, spreads and good for ground cover, proving there is a geranium for every garden situation. Slides showed images of different planting combinations and colours to expect from each one.

The talk was full of information, delivered with wit.

Julie’s plant stall was well supported by club members.
