Firstly a stop off at Dobbies Garden Centre just outside Cirencester. Here we had time to look at their stock of plants and garden equipment, make a purchase or two and enjoy lunch.
We then travelled on a short distance to Miserden House. The lovely house and garden sits on the edge of Miserden Village- all part of the Miserden Estate, owned by the Wills family. The gardens are a mix of tree lined walks, small kitchen garden area and herbaceous borders – probably at their best in June and July, but still beautiful in the late August sunshine. Extensive views accross the Golden Valley add to the feeling of being in a special garden.
As usual, no garden visit is complete without tea and cake- and this was no different!!! Delicious refreshments were served in the newly refurbished glasshouse and there was the opportunity to purchase plants from the on-site nursery. It should also be said the village inn, while we waited for the coach, was most welcoming!
All in all, a good day out in the Gloucestershire countryside. We look forward to next year!
